Meet Our Staff

Over the past year since the August 2022 Strides for Africa event, six communities/schools cherished a new clean water source in their community. More details coming on these completed water projects in our next e-mail! We thank our donors and supporters for their continued support to help fund projects that bring clean water to schools and communities struggling without clean water sources.

Our sustainable clean water projects bring new hope and a spark to communities that had been previously struggling without a clean drinking water source. Waterborne disease issues vanish and suddenly children and community members are freed of the burden of sickness with more time to be entrepreneurs or attend school.

We have had the great fortune through our run/walk event and outreach to make incredible local connections, which have ultimately led to connections that have become trusted partners who lead our work in different countries of Africa.

We have been so fortunate with our partnerships and their tremendous in-country leadership. We are excited to announce our first staff using non-donor funds following our 2022 East Africa travel. These positions are shared positions with Feeding Mouths Filling Minds.

Jake Briet, Development Coordinator

Jacob is a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, having obtained Bachelor of Science degrees in Global Health and Organic Agriculture, and is on the pre-medicine track. Jacob strives to promote community-based learning and youth civic action campaigns.

Earlier this month, Jacob moved to Kisumu, Kenya, where he previously interned at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the summer of 2022. Now in Kenya, Jacob continues to work with continental partners, as well as increasing our partnership with those living in Kenya. Throughout the past year, Jacob has sat as the International Executive Director of a local Kenyan Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), MART-COME Kenya. He will continue to build relationships and increase partnerships to build nutrition and water access.

Missy Olivia Ngabire, Partnerships Coordinator

Prior to joining our organization, Missy garnered valuable experience during her tenure as the Executive Assistant and Office Manager at Water Access Rwanda, a social enterprise committed to establishing reliable, affordable, and accessible water infrastructure throughout Africa.

Driven by a profound desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others, Missy fervently believes in the transformative power of technology to achieve this noble goal. Currently, she is actively pursuing her degree in Software Engineering from The Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA) located in the vibrant city of Kigali.

A Hearty Welcome to Jake and Missy!

We are thrilled to have you both join the Strides for Africa team. Your expertise and passion will undoubtedly propel us further in our mission to make a lasting impact on the African continent. Together, let's stride towards a brighter future.

Welcome aboard!
