William Floyd Middle School’s Fundraiser

Organized in Partnership with our Global Student Program

Why Our School is Fundraising for Clean Water

We are the 7th graders at William Floyd Middle School in Eastern Long Island, and this year, we’re on a mission to make a global impact! Through the Strides for Africa Global Student Program, we’re raising funds to build a clean water well for Troupoe Public School in Nimba County, Liberia.

Why does this matter? Right now, students at Troupoe Public School, along with their families and neighbors, lack access to clean and safe drinking water. Instead of focusing on school, many children spend hours each day fetching water, often from unsafe sources. Without clean water, communities face illnesses that prevent them from thriving.

By working together, we’re hoping to change that. Our goal is to help provide clean water to Troupoe Public School and the surrounding community, benefiting hundreds of people for decades to come. Access to clean water means healthier families, more time for education, and opportunities for brighter futures.

Join us in making a difference by donating here. Thank you for supporting us as we work to bring clean water to those who need it most!

Our Partnership with Strides for Africa.

Since 2016, William Floyd Middle School (WFMS) has partnered with Strides for Africa to create clean water projects, bringing safe drinking water to thousands of people across Africa.

As part of our 7th-grade curriculum, we read A Long Walk to Water in ELA, learning about the challenges of water scarcity. Inspired by this, we design fundraising campaigns to support specific water projects.

Through this program, WFMS students connect with partner schools in Africa to share learning experiences and see how clean water transforms communities. We are proud to make a global impact and look forward to continuing this work!
